Overview
VOCSens has developed EnviCam®, an environmental camera composed of multi-pixel gas microsensors that convert gas-related signals into electrical signals which AI algorithms translate into concentration values. The tiny sensors use polymeric and nanocomposite materials with a patented process (CMOSEnvi™) compatible with CMOS manufacturing, and the devices are described as very small, energy-efficient and up to 50× cheaper than competitors. Target markets include (petro)chemistry, water purification and recycling, industrial safety, smart cities and buildings, disease monitoring and food spoilage detection. The company aims to industrialise its gas microsensors and commercialise them in the chemical, petrochemical, recycling and smart city sectors by the second half of 2022. To support that industrialisation and deployment, VOCSens raised seed funding in 2021 and secured investor partnerships to strengthen ties with Industry 4.0 companies. VOCSens is the result of over 15 years of UCLouvain research, was founded in February 2019, and is based in Louvain-la-Neuve at the European Business and Innovation Centre (CEI Louvain).
