Volta Medical's lead product, VOLTA VX1, is an AI decision-support tool that produces live, annotated 3D maps of cardiac anatomy and electrical activity by identifying abnormal intra-cardiac electrograms. The software is trained on curated databases of electrograms and is used during ablation procedures to help physicians identify and annotate heart abnormalities. Regulators in the US and EU have sanctioned the product as safe to use, and the company says it was the first to receive FDA clearance for interventional cardiology. Volta is preparing additional clinical trials, including a 342-patient study across three US hospitals expected to report in 2024, building on earlier follow-up studies that suggested a 73% improvement rate for atrial arrhythmia one year after surgery. The company plans to use new funding to support more clinical testing, full-scale US commercialisation, regulatory approvals in new markets, and follow-up products from its roadmap. Volta is headquartered in Marseille and is led by CEO and co-founder Theophile Mohr Durdez; the recent Series B brought total investment to above €70 million.
