Volusion is an Austin, Texas-based provider of ecommerce software and services. Led by CEO Clay Olivier, the company offers commerce solutions for businesses ranging from startups to large enterprises. Its product portfolio includes the Volusion platform for entrepreneurs and small-and-medium-sized businesses and Mozu, an API-first platform built for the large enterprise market. Volusion secured $55M in financing led by Main Street Capital Corporation. The company intends to use the funds to develop its enterprise platform, Mozu, while further advancing its SMB Volusion platform. Volusion provides software that lets anyone build a fully functioning e-commerce site, with control over design, product merchandising, SEO, social media, payments and processing. The company reports 40,000 customers who made more than $2.8 billion in sales last year and has processed $12 billion in sales to date. Its newest offering, Mozu, targets mid-market to enterprise customers and was built with an API-first architecture to ease customization and integration. Mozu will use a usage-based pricing model and provide mobile and web support. Volusion raised outside capital for the first time in its ten-year history to support marketing and expansion of Mozu. Management is using the financing to grow the product and prepare the company for a potential IPO in the next year or so.
