Vouchsafe provides an identity verification platform designed to reduce global ID poverty by accepting a wider range of evidence than incumbents, including real-time digital evidence like eVisas. It offers fallback options such as vouches from trusted referees and conducts background checks, including online footprint analysis, to detect fabricated identities. The company is scaling quickly and is working with financial services firms to apply its technology to banking and credit. Vouchsafe was chosen by the Scottish Government to help provide public services to people who struggle to prove their identity through the CivTech programme. The company intends to use the £1M pre-seed funds to expand operations and further its development efforts. The round was led by Bethnal Green Ventures and supported by Biometric Ventures, Fuel Ventures, Seed X Liechtenstein and angel investor Andrew Chevis.
