WaystoCap is an online destination for business-to-business buyers and sellers that digitizes cross-border trade across Africa. Founded in Casablanca, Morocco, the platform hosts 12 industry verticals and matches buyers and sellers for regional commerce. The company reports “thousands” of active buyers and processed $3.1 million of transactions in Q1 2017, up from $2.2 million in 2016; it was cashflow positive prior to raising new capital. WaystoCap plans to use the funding to expand into West Africa with an office in Benin, open two to three additional West African offices (likely including Nigeria), establish a London base for finance trade partnerships, and open a physical presence in East Africa next year.
