Overview

Weavr provides a Plug-and-Play Finance platform that preconfigures APIs into ready-to-deploy embedded payment and banking solutions for mobile apps, SaaS and other digital properties. The platform is designed to reduce integration time from months or years to weeks or days while handling compliance and data security on behalf of customers. Since introducing the platform in late 2020 the company says it has seen fast adoption across multiple industries and offers extensible connections to financial providers across geographies. Weavr’s model eliminates multiple vendor relationships and lowers the technical and compliance burden for clients, while allowing customers to add services and providers as they grow. The company is launching international expansion efforts, beginning with an official U.S. market launch supported by business development and recruitment. Financially, Weavr closed a $40M Series A led by Tiger Global and reports this is its third funding round in 18 months, bringing total capital raised to $55M. Founded in 2019, Weavr is headquartered in London and is backed by a syndicate of fintech investors. Weavr is a London-based startup that provides API building blocks enabling businesses to embed fintech tools into their platforms. Its platform breaks fintech services—account creation, virtual and physical cards, wearable contactless payments, spending controls and real-time account management—into modular APIs that customers can embed into existing stacks. Customers include Finway, Thanks Ben and MySkillCamp across industries such as education, real estate and health and wellness. The company says it exceeded its Q1 growth targets by 250% and has added clients in a wide range of non-financial industries. Weavr plans to use the new funding to accelerate internalization and product development and to further integrate financial services into businesses’ digital services. Founders Alex Mifsud (CEO) and CTO Adrian Mizzi previously worked together at Ixaris, and Mifsud has prior fintech experience including founding Entropay. Weavr offers an open, publicly accessible cloud platform that connects payment networks and financial providers and supplies tools for innovators to define, deploy and consume digital payment flows. Founded in late 2018 by Adrian Mizzi and Alex Mifsud, the company positions itself as an embedded banking provider enabling businesses to issue and accept payments and move money around the world. Its proprietary technology stack was developed in collaboration with partners from global card schemes, programme managers, card issuers, and startup accelerators to simplify and speed up building and running complex payment solutions. With its recent funding the company announced the launch of a first suite of embedded banking tools specifically designed for the services sector. Weavr targets innovators in services industries such as education, employment and logistics that are embedding financial services into digital applications. The company has raised seed capital to support product rollout and commercial expansion.
