2290 Lucien Way, Ste 150, Maitland, FL, 32751, US
Overview
Workstream offers a mobile-first, text-based hiring and onboarding platform designed specifically for deskless and hourly workers. The company emphasizes mobile and texting workflows to serve workers rather than employers. Its software is used by more than 170 top quick-service restaurant brands, including Burger King, Dairy Queen and Jimmy John’s, and it is expanding into supermarkets, retail, hotels, auto and healthcare. Workstream’s revenue grew 10x in the past 18 months while its customer base increased to over 4,000 customers across 25,000 locations (up from 1,500 customers across 10,000 stores in 2021). The company has grown its own headcount to 220. With the new funding it plans to invest in R&D and hiring to build additional products and pursue an end-to-end software strategy for the deskless workforce. Founded in 2017 and based in San Francisco, Workstream provides a text-based, mobile-first recruitment and engagement platform targeting hourly and deskless workers. The product communicates with candidates over text to reduce time-to-hire and give real-time updates to workers without company email. Workstream describes itself as an end-to-end recruitment tool focused on recruitment and engagement rather than sourcing, and it posts listings via partnerships with roughly 25,000 job boards. The company reported filling more than 18,000 jobs in July, serves 1,500 customers across 10,000 stores (including McDonald’s, Subway and Jamba Juice), and claims 20% market share among the top 20 brands. While it did not disclose revenue figures, Workstream said it experienced "10X" ARR growth in the past year. The company plans to expand its hourly-hiring solution into sectors such as healthcare and retail. Workstream offers a two-part product: a job-seeker dashboard that supports search-to-onboarding and an employer-facing platform that automates sourcing, messaging and interviewing. The employer side can post to as many as 24 local job boards with one click and includes real-time messaging, video conference integration and text reminders. The company emphasizes mobile-first text communication to reach frontline workers and says its technology can save businesses 70% of the time spent hiring. Workstream charges employers a fee based on how many hires they make per year and which features they choose. The startup currently works with about 5,000 hiring managers, including franchise businesses such as Jamba Juice and Dunkin' Donuts, and is seeing inbound interest from medical and manufacturing companies. The company did not disclose valuation, revenue or profitability with the new financing. Investors have encouraged Workstream to spend more and reinvest in growth, and COVID-19 has made some small businesses more open to contactless hiring tools.
