Databricks launched Lakebase in June 2025, which has reached a $100 million revenue run-rate, and its AI chatbot tool Genie is described as highly popular. The company maintains a roughly 100-person AI research team and faces multi-billion-dollar cloud commitments with major hyperscalers. Databricks has been active on the M&A front, acquiring companies including Electric (PGlite) and AI cybersecurity firm Panther, and it says it plans to continue investing in AI and acquisitions while remaining open to a future IPO.

Whatnot has crossed one billion orders on its platform and has grown significantly since its Series C in 2021. The company has raised about $1.5 billion in total funding to date, culminating in the $545 million Series G that values it at $20 billion. Whatnot has faced scrutiny over gambling-like spending on the platform and says it bans raffles and lotteries and enforces seller controls. Company leadership has discussed careful management of valuation and signaled a preference to remain private as long as practical while preparing for the possibility of an eventual IPO.

  • Multiverse

    Founded in 2016, Multiverse began as a provider of digital apprenticeships and has expanded into enterprise AI training and workforce reskilling. The company has pursued strategic partnerships with firms such as Palantir and Databricks and acquired Berlin-based StackFuel to accelerate its presence in Germany. Multiverse says it aims to bridge the gap between AI companies and enterprises adopting AI by focusing on people and skills. It has raised around $570m in total capital and recently secured a £70m round that valued it at $2.1bn. Operationally, Multiverse reported widening losses for the year ending 2025 (from £60.3m to £63.3m) and reduced headcount slightly from 822 to 813, while recording its first cash-positive quarter in Jan–Mar 2026. The company plans to use the new funding to expand across Europe and deepen its enterprise AI training offerings.
