Overview

Founded in 2022, Santa Clara–based Xscape Photonics designs photonic hardware that moves data within AI data centers at far higher speeds and lower power than traditional copper interconnects. Its first commercial product, FalconX, is an External Laser Small Form-factor Pluggable (ELSFP) module that emits eight independent wavelengths of light, delivering more than one watt of optical power for multi-terabit bandwidth and built-in redundancy demanded by hyperscale AI clusters. The company’s proprietary CombX technology underpins FalconX and the broader ChromX roadmap, which targets 16, 32, and ultimately 128+ color wavelength-division-multiplexing fabric platforms. By enabling the entire data center to function “as one giant GPU,” the solution aims to unlock unused GPU capacity and cut networking failures by an order of magnitude. Xscape Photonics has attracted nearly $95 million in total funding and has more than doubled its valuation since the latest raise. Key technical founders hail from Columbia University, and the firm is rapidly expanding its engineering team to commercialize the ChromX platform.
