Yaak has developed SafetyOS, a proprietary safety platform that trains and tests drivers on the road and via realistic VR simulations while compiling large datasets of safe and unsafe driving decisions. The platform is deployed initially in partnership with driving schools, where instructors demonstrate best practices to the AI through real-world and VR-based simulations. Driving students can then use Yaak-equipped cars for self-guided virtual driving lessons, simultaneously generating data to help train autonomous systems. The company emphasizes certifying safe driving for both human drivers and autonomous vehicles and aims to prove and codify instructor knowledge into scalable systems. Yaak’s team includes people from Carnegie Mellon, Apple, Unity, EPIC Games, Qamcom, and Daimler Autonomous. The company recently raised funding to expand its beta vehicle fleet and further develop SafetyOS.
