Yassir

Micro Activity Zone Said Hamdine Lot No 11, Bir Mourad Rais, Alger, 16000, Algeria

Overview

Yassir operates a multi‑service super app that combines ride‑hailing, food and grocery delivery, payments and a B2B e‑commerce retail arm connecting FMCG suppliers with merchants. Launched in Algeria, the platform now runs in 45 cities across six countries and has offices in Algeria, Canada, France, Morocco and Tunisia. The company reports 8 million users (over 2.5x year‑over‑year growth) and a network of 100,000 partners including drivers, couriers, merchants, suppliers and wholesalers; in Algeria three out of five on‑demand activities are made via the platform. Yassir is layering wallet provision and plans to deploy drivers and couriers as money agents as part of a broader push into payments and mobile banking. Financially, the startup has raised $193.25 million since its 2017 inception and most recently closed a $150M Series B. The company says it will use the funding to consolidate growth, roll out new services, expand into additional African and Middle Eastern markets and significantly expand its engineering and product teams. Yassir operates a multi-sided marketplace that began with ride-hailing and expanded into last-mile delivery, connecting drivers, couriers, merchants, suppliers and wholesalers with end users. The platform generates revenue by taking a commission on services. It reports over 3 million users and 40,000 partners across its markets. The company plans to build a super app that layers payment services on top of its marketplace to drive financial inclusion in French-speaking Africa. Yassir intends to use recent funding to consolidate growth, launch new products, improve existing offerings and expand into sub-Saharan Africa and other strategic geographies. The company also plans to triple the size of its engineering team and focus on hiring local tech talent in each country it operates in.
