YData provides a data preparation platform that brings together major data science frameworks with proprietary tools for data access and profiling, data generation and labelling to improve data quality for AI. Its technology has been adopted by organisations in the financial services, utilities, and telecoms sectors. The company intends to use the $2.7M seed to accelerate development of AI solutions and to expand across Europe and North America. As part of the expansion, CEO Gonçalo Martins Ribeiro will relocate to the US to lead growth while the development team remains in Portugal; the strategy includes growing business development and product teams in the US and tech teams in Portugal and across Europe.
