Zamzee builds a wearable activity meter paired with a rewards system designed to motivate young teens to be more active. The device uses a three-axis accelerometer to capture diverse daily activities rather than requiring focused workouts. The product offers both physical and virtual goods as incentives for increased movement. HopeLab spun Zamzee off and invested $1 million to fund its development. Early tests cited in the article showed the program increased physical activity by about 30 percent.
