Overview
Zopper is a Noida, India–based insurance technology company that provides insurance solutions through a SaaS platform, partnering with insurance providers to offer customized products via more than 1,000 APIs. Founded in 2011 by Surjendu Kuila and Mayank Gupta, the company works with about 40 insurance companies and 2,500 ecosystem players to automate and streamline insurance distribution across digital channels. Its product focus includes device and appliance protection and bancassurance solutions delivered through partner integrations. Zopper plans to use new funding to enhance digital infrastructure, strengthen its insurance distribution platform, invest in AI/ML and data capabilities, expand bancassurance offerings, and improve post-sales servicing. The company operates under the legal name Solvy Tech Solutions Private Limited and lists its website as zopper.com. Zopper is an API platform for insurance infrastructure that creates byte-sized, personalized insurance products and supplies them to distribution partners. The company pivoted from a point-of-sale platform—its prior POS IP was sold to PhonePe in mid-2018—and has since built its current insurance business independently. Zopper operates in over 1,200 Indian cities and has partnered with more than 150 players, including Amazon, Ola, Croma, Xiaomi, Hitachi and Equitas Small Finance Bank. The startup has been profitable for over 18 months. It plans to deploy the fresh funds to significantly scale its workforce and to explore acquisitions. Zopper aims to reach nearly $1 billion in revenue and to file for an IPO in about five years. Zopper operates an on-demand marketplace focused on large, hard-to-ship items including home appliances, electronics, furniture, and vehicles. Rather than operating its own warehouses and logistics, Zopper partners with local retailers to help them find customers and manage orders, enabling rapid delivery plus local assembly and product support. The company reports about 1 million app downloads and roughly 500,000 monthly active users. Zopper was founded in 2011 and is based in New Delhi. It currently operates in seven cities and plans to expand to 30 cities by the end of the year. The business positions itself to benefit from the difficulty of logistics in bulky categories, which its co-founder says creates a competitive moat. Solvy Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd operates Reviews42, a community-based product review portal that aggregates user and expert reviews across multiple categories and includes a price-comparison engine. The site provides detailed specification pages, buying tips, overall ratings and is available on desktop and mobile, with apps for Android, iOS and Windows. Mobile accounts for close to 60% of total traffic and the service reports around 1,000 retailers on board; the company currently operates in Delhi-NCR. Reviews42 was co-founded by Surjendu Kuila and Neeraj Jain in 2011 and is being rebranded as Zopper.com. The company has raised $5 million in a round led by Tiger Global with participation from existing investors Blume Ventures and Nirvana Venture Advisors. Proceeds will be used to improve the product, build the team and expand into Bangalore (going live next month), followed by Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai.
