eGifter provides an e-gifting platform and consumer-facing mobile website and app that sells more than 225 brands of eGift cards and leverages integrations with social networks. The company was founded in 2011 and is led by CEO Tyler Roye. eGifter is Huntington, NY–based. It raised $3.5M in funding to accelerate growth. The company intends to use the proceeds to add members to its R&D, sales and marketing teams. Backers on the round included follow-on investments from the Long Island Angel Network (LIAN), BDS Capital, Angel Dough Ventures, 94Bits and several angel investors. eGifter provides a hosted social and group gifting platform that can be integrated into retailers’ websites, fan pages and mobile apps, and operates a consumer-facing marketplace on iOS, Android and the web. The platform enables consumers to buy eGift cards from more than 150 major brands and send them with animated eGreeting cards, personalized messages and video. More than a dozen major retailers adopted the solution since its launch in June. The company closed a $1.7M BB angel financing round and has raised nearly $3M in 2013. eGifter intends to use the funds to expand its social gifting platform, is hiring, and aims to raise another round of financing in 2014. GroupGifting.com develops eGifter, a social gifting service that lets consumers purchase eGift cards from major brands and invite Facebook friends to contribute to a group gift. The service is available on Apple iOS, Android and the web. eGifter partners with more than 200 brands and the company has also been described as supporting purchases from over 100 major brands. The company was co-founded in 2011 by Tyler Roye (CEO), Eric Manno (COO), Mark Manno (CFO) and David Levinsky (CTO) and is based in Melville, NY. GroupGifting.com closed an initial angel financing round of undisclosed size led by Bob Brill, and the company is hiring. Early backers named include Andrew Hazen from AngelDough as well as investors Barry Rubenstein, Steve Winick and David Calone.
