  • Abcuro

    Participated · Series D · Aug 2026

Abcuro develops immunotherapies intended to benefit people with debilitating and progressive rare autoimmune diseases by selectively targeting and depleting highly cytotoxic T cells. Its lead program, ulviprubart, is a monoclonal antibody that targets killer cell lectin like receptor G1 (KLRG1) and is currently being evaluated for the treatment of Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). The company plans to use proceeds from the Series D to support a new potentially registrational clinical study of ulviprubart in patients with less severe IBM. Abcuro is led by CEO Alex Martin and is based in Newton, MA. Financially, it has just completed a $66M Series D financing led by New Leaf Venture Partners with participation from a broad syndicate of life sciences and strategic investors.

  • Epicrispr

    Participated · Series C · Aug 2026

Epicrispr Biotechnologies develops programmable epigenetic medicines designed to durably regulate gene expression without altering DNA sequence, leveraging its proprietary GEMS platform. Its lead program, EPI-321, is an investigational epigenetic therapy for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) delivered in a single AAV vector intended to target muscle following intravenous administration. EPI-321 is in a Phase 1/2 trial with enrollment completed and interim results showing statistically significant increases in whole-body lean muscle volume, favorable biomarker changes consistent with DUX4 suppression, and a manageable safety profile. The company is advancing additional gene-modulating programs across multiple therapeutic areas and plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities. Epicrispr is based in San Francisco and is positioning to move EPI-321 into pivotal studies as it develops its next-generation programmable epigenetic medicines.

  • Crystalys Therapeutics

    Participated · Series B · Jul 2026

Crystalys is advancing dotinurad, a next-generation, once-daily oral URAT1 inhibitor positioned as a second-line therapy to reduce uric acid, gout flares and tophi. Dotinurad was invented by Fuji Yakuhin and has regulatory approvals in Japan, China, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand, with supporting clinical data from those markets. The company is conducting the JEWEL clinical research program, which includes the Phase 3 RUBY and TOPAZ trials and the Phase 2 AMETHYST study to evaluate safety and efficacy across a broad spectrum of gout patients. Crystalys aims to position dotinurad as a best-in-class option for safety and efficacy and is preparing for global commercialization. The company is headquartered in San Diego and was co-founded by Catalys Pacific and Novo Holdings. With the announced $130 million Series B, Crystalys has increased its financial runway to support late-stage development and commercial readiness.

  • Third Arc Bio

    Participated · Series A · Feb 2026

Third Arc Bio, launched in 2022, focuses on creating multispecific antibodies that form immune synapses to either activate or inhibit T cells with high precision. Its lead program, ARC101, is a bispecific T-cell engager targeting CLDN6 and is currently in Phase 1 dose-escalation studies for patients with advanced solid tumors. The company’s solid-tumor ARCStim platform and immunology-focused ARCTag (Tethered Agonist) platform underpin a broader pipeline aimed at both cancer and immune-mediated disorders. By localizing immune modulation to sites of disease, Third Arc seeks to improve both efficacy and safety over conventional systemic therapies. The management team includes executives with prior drug-development track records, and a16z General Partner Jorge Conde recently joined the board. Financially, Third Arc Bio has secured at least $217 million in Series A funding (an initial $165 million plus a $52 million extension) in addition to earlier seed capital. Proceeds are earmarked to accelerate its immunology portfolio and advance additional oncology programs into the clinic.

  • Veradermics

    Participated · Series C · Oct 2025

Veradermics is a late clinical-stage, dermatologist-founded biopharmaceutical company focused on first-in-class treatments for common dermatologic conditions. Its lead candidate, VDPHL01, is an extended-release, non-hormonal oral minoxidil tablet positioned to become the first FDA-approved oral therapy for pattern hair loss in both women and men. VDPHL01 is currently being evaluated in three Phase 3 trials after encouraging Phase 2 male data showed average hair count increases of 37.5 hairs/cm² at two months and 47.3 hairs/cm² at four months, with 90.5 % of participants reporting improved coverage and no serious adverse events. The formulation aims to sustain minoxidil exposure to follicles while avoiding cardiac risk–related concentration spikes seen in immediate-release versions. Proceeds from the recent financing will fund completion of Phase 3 registrational trials and a planned New Drug Application submission to the FDA. Beyond VDPHL01, Veradermics is building a pipeline of differentiated dermatology products that combine proven mechanisms with innovative delivery technologies to enhance efficacy, safety, and patient convenience.
