Kumu is a live streaming platform that integrates live video, video chats and gaming for Filipino audiences. The app has three million registered users, about 25,000 live streams broadcast each day, and average daily usage of roughly one hour. Usage has increased amid COVID-19 lockdowns, and Kumu has rolled out features to enable organizations such as churches and industry groups to hold online events. The company aspires to be a “super app” for Filipinos globally and plans to add online payments and e-commerce functions. An upcoming feature is a live commerce platform that will let users buy items during live streams, creating an additional revenue source for creators. The startup raised funding to develop new features and grow operations.
