Overview
The Adapt Low Carbon Group brings together a broad range of expertise and builds on the widely acknowledged successes of the University of East Anglia's business activities in the low carbon sector. Based at Norwich Research Park (NRP), Adapt promotes enterprising low carbon concerns and we work closely with the Norwich Business School and the School of Environmental Sciences. Breathing Buildings designs and supplies the e-stack natural ventilation system, promoted for its energy-saving potential. The company secured a second funding round totalling £1M, including a £250k capital investment from the Berti Green Accelerator. Other participants in the round were the Adapt Low Carbon Group (which provides equity finance) and original investor MMC Ventures. The Berti investment includes a bespoke six-month business support programme delivered by Hamilton Bradshaw Impact Partners. Breathing Buildings plans to roll out nationwide UK sales coverage with new hires (Amanda Brooks was appointed to create business in the Midlands) and to push international growth via a partnership with Price Industries in the US. The company has worked on a diverse range of buildings, including providing natural ventilation for the first healthcare facility awarded a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certificate.
