Cohabs builds and operates co-living properties designed to foster community with shared common areas and amenities. The company currently owns and operates 1,550 bedrooms and is marketing 49 co-living houses in Brussels, with additional properties in New York City (10), Paris, Madrid and Luxembourg. Cohabs plans to reach 5,000 bedrooms over the next four years and aims to have properties open for viewings in 11 cities by the end of 2026. The startup raised a structured financing that combines equity and debt to support its expansion. Management says the raise provides the structure and resources to execute its business plan. CEO Youri Dauber has outlined further capital injections tied to achieving the current plan. Cohabs operates a network of coliving properties, focusing on converting older homes through renovation and redecoration into shared living spaces. The company was founded in 2016 by Youri and Malik Dauber and François Samyn and runs close to 45 properties in Brussels, plus two homes in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Cohabs reports a third home planned for Harlem later this summer and two additional living spaces planned in Paris by year-end. Many of its homes host more than 10 inhabitants (Cohabs members) and the firm is expanding its target demographics to include older residents and lower‑income groups. Since January, Cohabs says its Brussels properties have been carbon neutral and it plans to pursue 1% for the Planet, B Corp, and other sustainability programmes within the next 24 months. The company has just completed a €58 million Series B comprised of €12.5 million in equity and a €45.5 million six‑year subordinated loan at 6%, improving its financial runway.
