- NIHON AGRI
Participated · Series C · Feb 2026
Founded in 2016, NIHON AGRI operates a vertically integrated business that spans production, sorting, packaging, and export of Japanese agricultural produce, with a focus on Asian markets such as Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company pioneered high-density planting for apples in Aomori Prefecture, achieving average yields of about 6 tons per 0.1 hectare—three times conventional methods. Its flagship export, Aomori apples, reached 2,761 tons and ¥1.58 billion in value for the 2024 Lunar New Year season. NIHON AGRI now works with 700 directly contracted apple growers, roughly 2.3 × last year, driving a 2.2 × increase in supply volume. Beyond its own orchards, the firm runs “Nichinou Pack,” an agricultural entry support program that guides other companies from business launch through sales of harvested crops. The new capital will fund working capital needs and value-chain investments to scale apple exports and expand Nichinou Pack. To date, the company has raised about ¥5.7 billion in equity financing.
- iSpace
Participated · Series C · Aug 2021
iSpace builds and operates robotic lunar landers aimed at transporting scientific and commercial payloads to the Moon. Although it has flown two missions, the company has yet to achieve a successful soft landing. Management is now focused on Mission 3 (target launch 2027) and Mission 4 (target launch 2028), which incorporate hardware upgrades intended to improve landing reliability. The firm recently secured new contracts, including a ¥6.4 B deal with JAXA for a lunar water-sensing satellite, a $22 M payload agreement with Magna Petra for Mission 3, and an $8 M delivery contract with the Taiwan Space Agency for Mission 4. Financially, iSpace reported first-quarter FY2025 net losses of ¥2.88 B ($19.2 M), nearly double the prior-year period, and ended the quarter with ¥26.4 B ($175.6 M) in cash—of which ¥15 B ($99.8 M) came from short-term loans. To fund upcoming missions and offset widening losses, the company is turning to the equity markets for additional capital. Proceeds are earmarked for ¥4.8 B to Mission 3 development, ¥9.5 B to Mission 4 work, and ¥4 B for general working capital.
- Cogent Labs
Participated · Series C · Apr 2020
Cogent Labs is a Tokyo-based AI company that provides four core offerings: Tegaki (handwritten OCR), Kaidoku (an NLP platform), Time-Series Forecasting (TSF), and bespoke AI consulting. TSF is used in a stock trade volume prediction service for Daiwa Securities, and the firm has developed an AI Creator System with Asahi Group Holdings for product package design. The company plans to enhance its NLP capabilities and develop an education service and an enterprise search engine built on that technology. Cogent will use the new funds to accelerate overseas expansion across Asian markets by localizing existing services and has begun entry into South Korea with local partners. Financially, Cogent raised JPY 1.4 billion (USD 13 million) in this Series C, bringing total funding to JPY 4.2 billion (USD 39 million). Past financings include a nearly USD 12 million Series A in 2017 led by SBI Investment and Toppan Forms, and an about USD 11 million Series B last year from Samsung Venture Investment, Kiwoom Investment, K2 Investment Partners, and Ncore Ventures.
