The company targets extending marketed drug platforms to include agents entirely insoluble in water. Co‑founded by Giovanni Politi and Vincenzo Politi in 2013, Aggrade operates from Camberley, United Kingdom. It recently signed a deal with nutraceutic company BioDue under which BioDue will build an industrial facility to produce dietary supplements using Aggrade’s system in exchange for royalties. Aggrade intends to use new funding to conduct R&D activities and expand the business.

Its core products include X-light and complementary systems targeting fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy. The company is a subsidiary of Crisel Instruments and was founded and is led by President Vincenzo Ricco. It raised €400k in equity funding from Filas and Aldabra Capital, with Aldabra acquiring a 35% stake. Crest Optics intends to use the funds to accelerate the commercialization of X-light and to develop further systems through the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. The funding announcement was reported on 16 June 2013.
