Altra was founded in 2005, based on the Principals' shared experience and mutual belief that midcap companies in the region represent highly attractive investment targets for private equity firms with the ability to create value through improved operations and strategic management.The firm's investment focus is the Andean Region with special emphasis in Colombia and Peru, where it has positioned local investment teams with over 80 years of direct relevant experience in the region. Since its inception, Altra has invested in fifteen platform companies and has raised over $500 million of equity commitments from a diversified group of investors, including leading public and private pension funds, funds-of-funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, endowments and foundations. The firm's operations are based in Bogota and Lima.

AVLA is a global insurance group headquartered in Bermuda that provides surety and trade credit solutions, primarily serving small and medium-sized enterprises. The company operates across Latin America with presence in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Peru and is ranked as a top-five provider of those solutions in the region. AVLA generated about $150 million of insurance revenue in 2023. Management says the business combines attractive profitability with social impact and an ability to enter new markets. AVLA plans to accelerate international growth and enter the U.S. market, and intends to reach 150,000 clients and $350 million in consolidated revenue in the coming years. Investors in the recent round also highlighted support for the company’s operations and technology as part of the growth plan.
