  • Mighty Bear Games

    Participated · Equity · Jul 2022

Mighty Bear Games is a Singapore-based studio building mobile-first, multi-platform games led by CEO Simon Davis. The studio has rapidly established itself as a partner for leading IPs and platform owners with titles including Butter Royale and Disney Melee Mania. It is expanding into web3 with its first blockchain game, Mighty Action Heroes, a multiplayer third-person battle royale slated for release later this year. Mighty Action Heroes will be powered by Polygon, and the studio plans to release an NFT PFP collection this summer tied to early access and in-game rewards. The company raised $10M in funding to accelerate growth and expand operations. Polygon will also provide funding, marketing, technical advice, strategy and ecosystem support for the web3 title. Mighty Bear is a Singapore-based game studio preparing its debut smartphone title. The startup was founded by four former King.com staffers and its 18-person team includes veterans from Ubisoft, EA, Lucasarts, Disney and Gameloft. Its first game is an MMORPG currently being soft-tested for scalability among users in India and the Philippines, with a full iOS and Android launch planned later this year. The studio intends to launch a second title as well and manage both games concurrently, aiming to streamline large desktop experiences into five-minute play sessions for a broader audience. As part of R&D, Mighty Bear creates videos and advertising for mock games to test user engagement and refine concepts before soft launch. Financially, the company previously raised $775,000 in a pre-seed round in early 2017 and has now secured a new seven-figure financing of roughly $2.5 million. Mighty Bear Games is a Singapore-based studio founded by four former King.com/Non Stop Games employees: Simon Davis, Fadzuli Said, Benjamin Chevalier and Saurabh Shukul. The eight-person team has more than 50 years of combined game-development experience and is based at Pixel Studios, a government-backed initiative. The studio is developing its first release, a mobile role-playing game, with plans to launch in test markets before the end of the year. Mighty Bear intends to focus on mobile titles and targets Western gamers while remaining headquartered in Singapore. The company formed after King.com closed its Singapore office following Activision’s acquisition, and the founders saw the closure as an opportunity to start anew. The team cites Singapore’s talent pool, regional access and government support as reasons to stay.

  • MetaLend

    Participated · Seed · Apr 2022
