    Silfab Solar is North America’s leading designer, developer and manufacturer of high-efficiency, premium photovoltaic (PV) modules. The company operates state-of-the-art facilities in Washington and Toronto and will soon add cell and PV module production in Fort Mill, South Carolina, scheduled to be operational by the end of the year. Silfab leverages more than 40 years of solar experience, multiple automated production lines, ISO 9001:2015 certification and just-in-time manufacturing to deliver Buy American–approved modules for the North American market. To scale its new cell manufacturing plant and expand PV module production capacity, Silfab closed $100 million of new financing. The financing consists of a $50 million equity investment led by funds advised by ARC Financial and a $50 million senior secured “Green Loan” led by Breakwall Capital with participation from SR Alternative Credit LLC. Sustainable Fitch provided a second-party opinion and judged the Green Loan’s alignment with Green Loan Principles to be “Excellent.” Management says the proceeds will advance domestic cell production, support reshoring of US-made PV products, meet customer demand, increase domestic content and reduce carbon footprint. Silfab Solar designs, develops and manufactures ultra-high-efficiency, premium PV modules for the North American residential and commercial markets. The company operates automated, ISO 9001-2015 certified production lines and produces Buy American–approved modules from facilities in Washington state and Toronto, Canada.     Since its founding in 2006, StormFisher Hydrogen has focused on producing low-carbon fuels at scale and has concentrated on e-fuel facilities since 2018. The company sold its organic waste-to-energy division to concentrate on renewable electricity-derived fuels (e-fuels). It has built a pipeline intended to deploy several billions of dollars of capital over the next 5–10 years to develop electrolysis-based fuel projects. Individual StormFisher facilities can convert up to 300 MW of renewable electricity from wind and solar into e-fuels. The company states each facility can produce enough e-methane to lower emissions for over 60,000 homes or enough e-methanol to fuel a container ship carrying 350,000 cargo containers from Europe to the U.S. To drive expansion, StormFisher Hydrogen re-enlisted three key executives: Brandon Moffatt (EVP – Project Development and Execution), Chris Guillon (EVP – Commercial Operations and Finance), and Pearce Fallis (EVP – Project Origination and Development).

    CarbiCrete develops a concrete process that replaces traditional cement with a steel-industry byproduct and cures products using carbon dioxide that remains permanently sequestered. Its technology is already deployed at facilities such as Patio Drummond in Drummondville, which produces pavers and exterior landscaping products. The company announced an international production launch in France at a POINT.P (Saint-Gobain) facility. CarbiCrete received a $1M federal grant to broaden its range of decarbonized outdoor paving products and commercialize a full offering for residential, commercial and institutional markets. Management, led by CEO Gary Belisle, says the funding will also help advance plans for a large-scale dedicated manufacturing plant. The company has previously benefited from other federal programs supporting deployments in Quebec and Ontario and is positioning for further domestic and international expansion.

    Nexterra Systems develops and provides biomass energy systems designed to help universities, municipalities, hospitals, government and industrial facilities switch from fossil fuels to cost-effective, carbon-neutral biomass fuels. Its systems operate on wood residues, biosolids and agricultural waste. Led by President and CEO Jonathan Rhone, the company supplies institutional and industrial customers including the US Department of Energy, University of South Carolina, Dockside Green, Kruger Products, the University of Northern BC and Tolko Industries. Nexterra secured $2.5m in equity financing from the Business Development Bank of Canada to accelerate growth by expanding and enhancing its product portfolio. Earlier, the company raised $15m from Tandem Expansion Fund and ARC Financial. The new funding is intended to support product development and commercial expansion. Nexterra Systems supplies biomass gasification systems that generate on-site renewable heat and power for universities, municipalities, hospitals and industrial facilities. The company is based in Vancouver, Canada. Its systems are designed to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions by enabling customers to switch from fossil fuels to biomass, and are noted for ultra-low emissions, fuel flexibility, reliability and lower lifecycle costs versus traditional biomass combustion equipment. Nexterra targets institutional and industrial customers and lists the U.S. Department of Energy, Johnson Controls, University of Montana, Kruger Products, Dockside Green and the University of British Columbia among its customers. The firm intends to use new financing to continue expanding and to enhance its product portfolio. The company recently secured equity financing to support growth and operational momentum. Nexterra Systems Corp, based in Vancouver, supplies advanced biomass gasification systems for biomass heat and power applications. The company is commercializing a new high-efficiency biomass power system in collaboration with GE Jenbacher and GE Energy. Proceeds from the recent funding will support that commercialization program. Pilot testing of the new system was planned to begin before the end of 2009, with a first commercial demonstration expected in early 2010. Nexterra received $7.7m in funding from the BC Bioenergy Network (BCBN), Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), the National Research Council Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), and Ethanol BC. CEO Jonathan Rhone emphasized continued collaboration with funding partners to ensure the company’s energy solutions meet high standards for biomass applications.
