UrbanFootprint positions itself as the world’s first Urban Intelligence platform, delivering geospatial software and data to inform infrastructure and community resilience decisions. The platform compiles and analyzes thousands of previously siloed data points and connects them to a proprietary canvas of 160 million land parcels covering nearly every inch of the United States. Customers across energy, government, finance, real estate, and urban planning use sector-specific data products and mapping tools to evaluate conditions, measure risk, and prioritize investments and interventions. Use cases cited include utility grid hardening, EV charger siting, targeting food/housing/disaster relief, and ESG and finance risk analysis for insurers and banks. UrbanFootprint announced a $25 million Series B and says it will deploy the capital to accelerate delivery of climate and community intelligence to energy, government, finance, and real estate sectors. The company has received industry recognition, including Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies and the GovTech 100. UrbanFootprint provides a location intelligence and urban-planning software platform with built-in data, analysis, and advanced scenario-planning tools. The platform surfaces critical urban insights such as climate and hazard impacts and accessibility to transportation hubs and points of interest. It supports cities and urban planners in designing sustainable, equitable, and resilient communities and serves mobility, energy, insurance, and real estate customers. The company is led by CEO Joe DiStefano with co-founder Peter Calthorpe. In February 2020 it raised $11.5M in Series A funding to advance its offerings and grow its customer base.
