  • Intrepid Labs

    Led · Seed · May 2025

Intrepid Labs develops the Valiant™ platform, a modular AI-driven robotic lab that selects, prepares, and analyzes drug formulations through semi- and fully autonomous workflows to explore formulation design space rapidly. The platform refines multiple parameters in parallel, reducing formulation timelines from months to days and delivering data-driven optimized formulations. The company also develops proprietary oral and long-acting injectable delivery technologies for small molecules and biologics that are being advanced for licensing. Intrepid has forged partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies, CROs, CDMOs, and smaller biotechs to apply its platform to customer programs. Proceeds from recent financings will expand the team, accelerate development of delivery technologies, and scale commercial operations to meet customer demand. Intrepid was spun out of the University of Toronto and is based in the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.

  • Nomic

    Participated · Series B · Sep 2024

Nomic develops the proprietary nELISA platform, enabling massive multiplexing, full quantification, and cost-efficient protein profiling. The platform currently offers a comprehensive solution for inflammation research and high-throughput quantification of hundreds of secreted proteins. Nomic serves over 75 customers across top-10 pharma, innovative biotechs, and research institutes and has collectively profiled more than 400,000 samples. To meet surging demand the company has built industrial-scale facilities offering high throughput and fast turnaround for protein profiling services. With new capital Nomic plans to expand commercial operations, further advance the nELISA platform, and broaden its offerings to cover proteins across the entire proteome. Leadership cited in the article includes CEO and co‑founder Milad Dagher and board member Byron Hewett. Nomic Bio is building the nELISA, a next-generation ELISA platform that leverages DNA nanotechnology, spectral multiplexing, and automation to enable massively scalable, multiplexed protein quantification. The nELISA is designed to deliver high throughput and cost-efficiency while maintaining the sensitivity and specificity of traditional ELISAs and to integrate into existing biological workflows. Nomic has worked with select partners across the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, from mid-sized biotechs to top-ten pharma, to advance drug discovery. The company will use new capital to grow teams in Montreal and Boston and to expand access to the platform. Planned operational goals include increasing profiling capacity to 100,000 samples a quarter by Q2 2022, scaling the nELISA to 500 on-boarded proteins, and beginning development of new modalities such as post-translational modification identification. The company has raised over US$21 million to date following its recent financing.
