Founded in 2017, Berlin-based Enpal offers a fully integrated package for climate-neutral homes that bundles photovoltaic systems, battery storage, EV chargers, heat pumps, green electricity tariffs and a smart energy manager. Central to its model is a rental financing programme that removes the high upfront cost of hardware and connects customers to Enpal. One+, an AI platform that aggregates household batteries into a virtual power plant and trades excess electricity on the market. The company has installed more than 300,000 decentralised energy systems for over 100,000 customers, making it Europe’s largest residential solar installer and Germany’s leading independent metering point operator. Enpal has also become the country’s largest provider of installed heat pumps. Backed by investors such as TPG Rise Climate, SoftBank Vision Fund II and HV Capital, the firm continues to layer project-level financing on top of its equity base to scale rapidly. The new €700 million ABS warehouse and €600 million in senior bank loans deepen its capital stack and are intended to accelerate monthly household conversions to renewable energy. Enpal plans to leverage this capital efficient structure to expand further across Europe while reinforcing energy independence.
