BioAngels is a unique partnership between BIRAC, an enterprise of the Department of Biotechnology, and IAN, India’s single largest horizontal platform for seed and early-stage investing. It is focused on supporting Biotech, Medtech, Healthtech, Pharma, Agritech & Cleantech startups — to raise their angel round from Angel Investors who bring deep domain expertise. BioAngels brings Money, Mentoring, and Market Access, echoing IAN’s genetics. It aims to fuel the ecosystem through interactions with high-quality investors and industry leaders, whilst emphasizing on a strong operational focus, frameworks, processes, and governance. The inclusive group of ecosystem stakeholders at BioAngels comprises HNIs, angel investors, family offices, strategic investors, corporates, and VCs.

Dectrocel develops AI-powered diagnostic tools, with flagship product DecXpert delivering chest X-ray and CT-scan interpretations and claiming 10x faster results with 98% accuracy. DecXpert is one of only three AI-based diagnostic tools approved for clinical use in India by the CDSCO and reports a 40.1% improvement in missed case detection validated in Nature Scientific. The company targets diagnostic gaps caused by India’s acute radiologist shortage (reported 1:125,000), particularly in tier-2 and smaller cities where delays and errors are common. Dectrocel plans to scale commercial deployment across OEM partner networks, penetrate India’s digital X-ray market, and establish an initial presence in Southeast Asia. It is also developing new diagnostic modules for CT/MRI/PET-CT and HPB disease detection and enhancing its self-learning multimodal AI capabilities. The company raised Rs 4 crore in the reported funding round to support these plans.

The company is ISO 13485 certified and says it conducted the world’s first clinical trial using silk for bone repair. Serigen plans to use recent funding to scale manufacturing and sales, expand its team, and strengthen its intellectual property portfolio. It is a 2015 spin-off of CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, incubated at Pune’s Venture Center and headquartered in Pune. The company aims to reduce market dependence on foreign suppliers while expanding clinical deployment of its patented silk-based platform.

It is also pursuing geographic expansion in the Middle East, including opening a new office in the UAE and partnering with digital marketing agencies.
