Secure is a Seattle-area fintech that provides an app enabling employers to offer emergency savings accounts (ESAs) as a workplace financial-wellness benefit. The product helps employees save a portion of their paycheck automatically into an ESA. The company spun out of Pioneer Square Labs late last year and is launching with its first customers this month. Secure has 12 employees. CEO Devin Miller and co-founder Bassam Saliba are longtime entrepreneurs with prior startup exits (Balance Financial and Avado). The startup is entering a market with growing interest in ESAs amid the pandemic and broader evidence that many Americans lack emergency funds.
