Moov builds wearable devices and a companion app that deliver real-time coaching and heart-rate monitoring for fast-paced workouts. Its new products include the Moov Sweat headband (Moov HR Sweat) and a Moov Swim sensor that fits into a swim cap; the headband supports live audio coaching while the swim cap tracks heart rate but cannot deliver waterproof audio. Moov emphasizes head-mounted optical heart-rate sensing as more accurate than wrist-worn trackers—TechCrunch recounts a demo showing a >30 BPM divergence between a Fitbit and the Moov headband. The Moov coach issues timely verbal interventions across more than 100 exercises, remembers past performance, and tailors feedback; heart-rate data is displayed as waveform and numeric values and can be shared to a leaderboard and social media. Devices are sold directly at $59.95 each or $99.90 for both, with preorders open and shipments planned in the first half of next year. The company has secured a $12 million Series B to fund additional R&D and marketing for these products. Moov sells a waterproof, watch-like wearable that uses 9-axis sensors and software algorithms to pinpoint body movements and provide real-time coaching without a camera. The device can be worn on the wrist or ankle and targets activities beyond step tracking, including running, walking, boxing, cycling, weight lifting and swimming. Moov’s system pairs the hardware with mobile apps that deliver feedback and coaching; the company has live apps for running and walking and plans several more. The startup is expanding platform support (Android planned next month) and intends to more than double its app lineup by year-end. Moov completed $1M in presales during the first two weeks of crowdfunding (units sold at $50 each, implying roughly 20,000 units) and today sells the device for $79.95 via pre-order. The 11-person team is growing and the company is using new funds to add supported activities, shorten manufacturing time, and build an SDK for third-party developers.
