Dash is a New York City-based mobile payment platform for restaurants, bars and clubs. It allows patrons to check in, view, split and pay their tab from their smartphone. Participating Manhattan restaurants include Agave, Los Feliz, Edward’s, Tammany Hall, Opal, Village Lantern, The Royal, Dukes and others. The company plans to use the new funding to expand its partner network in New York and aims to launch in several new cities before the end of the year. Dash closed a $1.2M funding round and has raised $1.9M to date. In conjunction with the raise, the company released an iOS 7 update for its app. Dash is a New York City-based startup whose iPhone app integrates with hospitality point-of-sale systems to let users open, view, split, and pay tabs without handing over a credit card. The founders obtained a patent covering mobile devices interacting with hospitality POS systems for opening, viewing, splitting, and paying a tab. The app supports bill splitting, location ratings, and potential merchant rewards for frequent use. Dash planned an Apple App Store launch in August and said it would release an Android app before the end of the year. It has lined up more than 50 NYC bars and restaurants, including Via Tribunali, Clinton Street Baking Company, Agave, and Burger and Barrel. The company planned to expand to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Austin, and Miami in about six months and has raised seed capital to support rollout.
