- Stream
Participated · Seed · May 2026
Founded in 2024 by Ibrahim Aldlaigan, Stream offers billing and payments infrastructure for businesses across the MENA region. The company has raised a total of $9.2 million in seed funding following a $5.2 million seed extension led by BECO Capital. Investors in the extension include STV, Flourish Ventures, Arab Bank, and existing backers Outliers Venture Capital and BYLD. The financing position reflects early-stage support for Stream's platform-focused operations. The articles do not report revenue, user counts, or specific product roadmap milestones.
- Munify
Participated · Seed · Aug 2025
Munify is a neobank focused on giving Egyptians abroad a faster, cheaper way to send money home while enabling residents, businesses and freelancers in Egypt to open U.S. bank accounts and cards using a local ID. The startup operates a dual consumer and business model: consumer remittance and banking services plus APIs for companies to send and receive cross-border payments. Munify says it is building its own rails and directly connecting banking systems across countries to reduce costs and speed transfers. The product launched two weeks ago and is already seeing early adoption with thousands of sign-ups via word of mouth. On the commercial side, Munify has signed contracts with mid-sized companies and enterprises representing a projected $50+ million in monthly cross-border volume. Its revenue sources are FX spreads, interchange and payment flows. The company plans to expand beyond Egypt to other Middle Eastern and adjacent countries, gradually stitching together regional banking rails.
- Waza
Participated · Seed · Aug 2024
Waza offers a payments and liquidity-management platform focused on enabling African businesses, traders and fintechs to pay suppliers and manage cross-border liquidity. The startup began operations in January 2023 after participating in Y Combinator’s winter batch. It serves hundreds of clients across six continents and addresses three customer segments: multinationals operating in Africa, importers/traders, and fintechs needing API infrastructure. Waza’s revenue comes from FX spreads and a 0.75%–1% take rate; transaction volumes and revenues have been growing roughly 20% month over month. Operational traction includes $280,000 in payment volume in its first month and processing up to $70 million in monthly payment volume in May (about $700 million annualized). The founders — CEO Maxwell Obi and CTO Emmanuel Igbodudu — have deep payments and engineering experience; the team plans to expand beyond Ghana and Nigeria and may build business banking, credit/financing, or stablecoin banking products in future.
- Cleva
Participated · Seed · Jan 2024
Cleva builds a banking platform that lets African individuals and businesses open U.S. dollar accounts to receive international payments. The company launched in Nigeria and requires a Bank Verification Number (BVN) and government ID for onboarding. Cleva currently generates revenue from currency swaps/exchanges and charges a 0.9% fee on deposits into USD accounts, capped at $20, and says it has seen month-on-month revenue growth of 100%. In the four months since launch it has enabled “thousands” of Nigerians to open U.S.-based accounts and is processing over $1 million in monthly payments. The founding team — Tolu Alabi and Philip Abel — bring product and engineering experience from Stripe, AWS, Amazon and Twilio, and the startup is participating in Y Combinator’s winter 2024 batch. Planned product roadmap items include USD cards, savings in U.S. assets, invoicing tools and global USD send capabilities to target Africans and the diaspora.
- Anchor
Participated · Seed · Sep 2023
Anchor is a Nigerian banking-as-a-service (BaaS) platform that provides APIs, dashboards and developer tools to help businesses embed bank accounts, payments, cards and other financial services. The product now supports business accounts, card issuance, bill payments, bulk disbursements, cross-border payments and developer features such as audit logs and webhooks. Anchor partners with regulated banks and says it shortens the time to build banking products from years to days. The startup went live in August last year after emerging from stealth and has grown to roughly 270 clients, with about 63 firms actively transacting. Anchor reports more than $550 million in annualized total transaction volume and revenue growing about 30% month-on-month; revenue comes from processing fees, issuance fees and interest on float. Customers include fintechs, SaaS firms, e-commerce marketplaces and tech-enabled businesses such as Bujeti, Pennee, SeamlessHR, Lifebank, Waza and Zit.ng. Following the new funding, the company plans to improve end-to-end compliance, invest in a ledger system, expand product offerings and onboard more customers, and is in early talks about Pan-African expansion. Anchor offers APIs, dashboards and developer tools to help startups embed and build banking products such as bank accounts, funds transfers, savings, card issuance and loans. The seven-month-old, YC-backed fintech ran a private beta in May that was accessed by more than 30 startups including Pivo, Outpost Health, Dillali and Pennee. Anchor says it is transacting several millions of dollars and growing 200% month-on-month. The company generates revenue by charging fees and taking cuts across billable services (account issuing, money movement, savings and deposits). After coming out of stealth, Anchor plans to use its new capital to hire talent, improve tech infrastructure, invest in compliance and regulatory systems, and acquire customers. The founding team brings prior payments and fintech experience from Amplify, JUMO, AppZone, TeamApt, Kuda, Carbon and Booking.com, which the company cites as a competitive advantage.
