Centogene provides diagnostics and multiomic solutions that deliver data-driven answers for patients, physicians and pharma in rare and neurodegenerative diseases. It integrates multiomic technologies with the Centogene Biodatabank to provide dimensional analysis that guides precision medicine. The company’s approach enables rapid and reliable diagnosis, supports more precise physician understanding of disease states, and accelerates and de-risks targeted pharma drug discovery, development and commercialization. Centogene will partner with Lifera to form a joint venture in Saudi Arabia, providing diagnostics and multiomics expertise and helping establish an advanced laboratory and bioinformatics infrastructure. In connection with the JV Centogene will receive a $30 million mandatory convertible loan, plus performance-related milestone payments and revenue-based royalties through 2033, and its lender Oxford Finance has agreed to amend existing financing documentation. The JV formation and funding are expected in the second half of 2023, subject to foreign direct investment and other regulatory clearances and agreement on commercial terms. Centogene provides genetic diagnostics for rare diseases, offering test portfolios of over 3,100 single genes, roughly 200 panels, as well as whole exome and whole genome testing. The company maintains a proprietary, fully curated mutation database, CentoMD®, with approximately 120,000 analyzed individuals and receives samples from more than 110 countries. Led by Prof. Arndt Rolfs, MD (CEO and founder), Centogene had about 300 employees as of 31 May 2017. The company plans to use new funding to expand R&D activities, including biomarker development and companion diagnostic solutions. It intends to broaden global genetic diagnostics for earlier, more precise diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases and to increase its presence in the U.S. and China. Centogene also plans expansion in other regions, primarily the MENA region and Latin America.
