Clayton Associates is an investment firm founded in 1996 by R. Clayton McWhorter, former founder of HealthTrust, Inc. and Chairman of Hospital Corporation of America (NYSE:HCA). We've built on our extensive operating experience and relationships to partner with entrepreneurs and help them build successful businesses. Clayton Associates makes seed, angel, and venture stage investments in healthcare technology companies. The firm's seed investments are done via Bullpen Ventures in the form of $25-75K investments to help companies get started. Rolling Hills Ventures is an angel fund investing $500K-$1.5M in companies that are beginning to see traction. The firm’s venture capital manager, FCA Venture Partners, has managed a total of five funds, including exited funds FCA I and FCA II, as well as three active funds, FCA III, IV, and their most recent fund, FCA V. Typical investment sizes range from $2 million to $6 million of equity in companies with experienced management teams who are implementing proven business models with well-defined exit strategies. In 2013, the firm founded Clayton Advisors, a consulting division that strives to accelerate the growth and profitability of companies by focusing on innovation, strategy, and stakeholder relationships. QueueDr provides a software platform that connects to doctors’ existing scheduling systems and texts patients to fill last-minute cancellations. Its algorithm identifies similar patients and texts a handful; the first responder is slotted, producing an 80% cancellation fill rate. The company works with private practitioners and specialists, including dentists and therapists, and integrates with partners such as Allscripts, athena, CareCloud, drchrono, and Greenway. QueueDr says it has quadrupled its number of patients in the last three months and increased revenue tenfold over the last year. The three-year-old company recently moved to Norwalk, Connecticut from San Francisco. Management plans to scale the business, build new features, and explore telehealth opportunities to address no-shows in addition to cancellations.

NuScriptRX operates a single Nashville pharmacy center that uses automated dispensing systems and proprietary eMed-StatTM and PharmComTM technologies to provide 24/7 medication access and communications to long-term care nursing facilities in eight states. The company deploys a mail-order model without the geographic limitations of traditional courier-based delivery to reduce drug waste and lower costs. Over the past 18 months it has quadrupled its revenue run-rate to over $30 million and has nearly doubled the size of its central pharmacy. NuScriptRX has created over 60 Tennessee jobs. The company recently announced a new management team led by acting CEO Donald B. Taylor and Jim Beaumariage. It plans to use new capital to build infrastructure and operational excellence to manage growth.
