Versant has developed a deeptech platform that aggregates ecological and remote-sensing data and uses species distribution modelling to automate identification and qualification of land for mandatory ecological compensation. Its first product targets renewable energy developers, helping them meet regulatory biodiversity obligations faster and with greater rigor; the team cites a lead ecologist with a PhD contributing to its modelling R&D. Since launching in 2024, Versant has partnered with major renewable developers including EDF Renouvelables and has identified over 50 hectares with high restoration potential. The company plans to deepen its presence in the renewable energy sector while expanding into infrastructure, industrial, and urban development projects across Europe, and to strengthen its AI and data capabilities. Founders Martin de Stoppani and Luc Bettaieb bring a mix of nature-tech, startup operations, and software development experience from prior roles and Antler residency. Financially, Versant has secured a €500K raise (€350K equity and €150K in grants) to develop a comprehensive solution for project developers to integrate biodiversity earlier in project decisions.
