- WECHEER
Led · Equity · Oct 2023
WECHEER, founded in 2017 by Karim Choueiri (CEO) and Aurèle de Bosset (CTO), builds a Bottle-as-a-Service platform centered on a patented Smart Bottle Opener that uses image recognition to detect bottle openings and identify time, location and brand. The technology delivers consumption-occasion insights for beverage companies and enables promotional activations and reward mechanics for bartenders and other HoReCa staff. By linking each opened bottle to brand and location data, WECHEER lets beverage companies unlock promotional opportunities and reward staff when a brand is recommended or a bottle is opened. In September 2023 WECHEER won the Coca-Cola HORECA Start-Up Challenge, receiving a €100k award from Coca-Cola HBC Ventures and gaining access to mentorship, support and industry expertise. The competition ran from March to September 2023 and concluded with final presentations by nine shortlisted participants to a Coca-Cola HBC selection committee composed of Executive Leadership Team members. No other financial details or operating metrics were disclosed in the article. Wecheer builds a connected smart bottle opener and accompanying system that records the time, place and brand each bottle is opened and transmits that data in real time. The device links beverage brands directly with bartenders and includes a tipping/commission mechanism for bartenders. Two years after its founding, Wecheer has equipped nearly 3,000 bartenders in Vietnam and Mexico and recorded about 4 million bottles opened so far this year. The company operates from Lausanne with offices in Phu Nhuan, Vietnam. Wecheer plans to double its number of users next year and expand into many other countries. The FIT Digital funds will be used to implement its business development strategy and increase bar adoption of its technology.
