Zuga Medical is a Cleveland, OH-based medical device company developing a dental implant system. Led by CEO Steve Cornelius, the company has developed an FDA-approved Zuga® implant system designed to simplify and streamline implant placement and restoration. The system allows dentists to provide implant services without the use of complex alignment systems and outsourced lab services. The technology, invented by CSO and founder Dr. Chan Wang, uses a surgical-grade titanium threaded rod inserted in the jaw, a specialized abutment added after installation, and a standard crown attached. The company received a $250K investment from JumpStart Inc. and has also raised funding from the Cuyahoga County North Coast Opportunities Fund and the Innovation Fund. Zuga intends to use the JumpStart funds to launch its implant system. Zuga Medical designs, manufactures and markets dental implant systems and related restorative tools. Led by co-founder, chairwoman and CEO Dr. Chan Wang, the Beachwood, OH company has developed a patent-pending system intended to reduce chair time and eliminate outsourced patient and laboratory services. Its product suite includes the Biothread™ Implant, the Dentim™ Restoration System, and a user-friendly kit that combines both products with a pre-programmed drill unit. The company received $100k from The Innovation Fund and intends to use the capital to validate its technology and business concept. The Innovation Fund was founded by the Lorain County Community College Foundation to provide early-stage capital to technology-based companies in Northeast Ohio.
