- Insane Cyber
Participated · Equity · May 2024
Insane Cyber, founded in 2020 and based in San Antonio, Texas, develops automated industrial cybersecurity solutions for energy, data centers, government, oil and gas, and other critical infrastructure sectors. Its core product, the Valkyrie Automated Security platform, provides host and network monitoring and automated data analysis and can be deployed on-premises via hardware or virtual machine, in the cloud, or in hybrid configurations. The company also offers the Cygnet Flyaway Kit, which pairs Valkyrie software with a durable, portable hardware solution for incident response. Insane Cyber emphasizes ease of use and automation to scale defenses that traditionally relied on non-scalable professional services. Valkyrie is described as being trusted by multiple Fortune 200 companies. The company recently closed a $4.2 million early-stage funding round to accelerate bringing Valkyrie and Cygnet to market.
- LeakSignal
Participated · Seed · Mar 2024
LeakSignal builds a microservices cybersecurity platform that classifies and protects sensitive data in transit across microservices, service mesh, serverless and LLM-driven architectures. The company uses Rust and WebAssembly (WASM) within service mesh environments to perform real-time in-transit data classification, map data flows, block threats, and mitigate data leakage. LeakSignal positions its solution as addressing gaps left by API security, DLP, and DSPM tools—namely high false positives and limited visibility into production traffic such as API, log, and database flows. Its platform is used by enterprise customers including multinational banks and airlines, and the company has worked with two of the top ten largest U.S. banks and a major international airline. Headquartered in Atlanta, LeakSignal plans to accelerate product development, expand evangelism, and equip platform and security engineers with in-transit capabilities that integrate natively into modern architectures. Financially, LeakSignal recently closed an oversubscribed $1.6 million seed round to support this growth.
- Upfort
Participated · Series A · Oct 2023
Upfort provides a combined cyber security and insurance platform that streamlines cyber insurance underwriting and risk management for insurers, brokers, and their clients. Its proprietary technology and intelligent automation include AI-powered email protection, network defense, security training, and ongoing monitoring tuned to prevent incidents that cause widespread financial damage. The platform integrates risk assessment, mitigation, and insurance policies to simplify a historically cumbersome and costly underwriting process. An 18-month study of a leading cyber insurance program found that policyholders who fully implemented Upfort Shield were significantly less likely to file a claim, with an 80% reduction in claim likelihood. The company transitioned from Paladin Cyber to Upfort to reflect expanded capabilities as a one-stop shop for cyber security and insurance. Upfort says the new investment will enable it to build on these efforts and continue its mission of accelerating global cyber resilience. Paladin Cyber offers a suite of proprietary tools and resources for small and mid-sized businesses and government entities to assess and manage cyber exposures. Its product set includes training simulations to identify phishing scams, software to protect against malicious code and hacking, and services such as phishing inbox protection, cross-site-scripting protection, public WiFi protection, a browser content filter, and a password manager. The company also provides qualified resources for cyber education and incident response and ties its software solutions to commercial cyber insurance terms with competitive premiums. Paladin made its comprehensive commercial cyber insurance policy available on an admitted basis in Arizona, with Oregon, Colorado and Nevada to follow later in the year; the policy is underwritten by National Specialty Insurance Company and administered by Boost Insurance and offers limits from $50,000 to $1 million across a range of first- and third-party coverages. Founded in 2017 and led by CEO Han Wang, Paladin plans to use new funding for continued national insurance expansion and further investment in its proprietary security platform. The company raised $3.6M in its latest financing, bringing total funding to $4.5M.
- Discern Security
Participated · Seed · Sep 2023
Discern Security provides an AI-native security workspace, the Discern Security Loop, that unifies data across an organization's environment and combines reusable AI Skills, intelligent agents, and human-approved workflows to identify, prioritize and remediate control gaps. The platform connects findings to underlying controls, assets and compliance requirements and produces executive-ready reporting aligned with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK. Discern says customers typically use less than 25% of features in purchased security products and that its agentic loops can at least double tool utilization. The company plans to expand its library of AI Skills and autonomous capabilities and grow engineering and product teams following its Series A. Discern is based in Sunnyvale, Calif., and raised $13 million in the Series A announced July 30, 2026.
