- Stockal
Participated · Series A · Apr 2022
Borderless, formerly known as Stockal, runs a cross-border investing platform that continues to trade under the Stockal brand. The service allows affluent individuals in emerging markets to invest abroad and, through forthcoming product extensions, aims to help them save on travel, education, and healthcare expenses. The Bangalore-based company works with more than 100 financial institutions and fintech partners and currently supports over 160,000 global capital accounts. To date it has processed US$2 billion in transaction volume and serves customers across 18+ countries. Borderless has raised roughly INR 100 crore in cumulative funding from investors such as July Ventures, AROA Ventures, HDFC, and Hashed Ventures. Management is in discussions for a prospective INR 120 crore Series B round to commercialize its expanded offering. The freshly secured bridge capital will primarily fund additional product development.
- The Wedding Brigade
Participated · Series A · Jan 2018
The Wedding Brigade operates a content-to-commerce platform that combines curated content, shopping and wedding services for Indian weddings. The company aims to be a single destination where consumers can find ideas, plan weddings, and make purchases and bookings. It reported growing its revenue by over 4x last year. Management plans to use new funding to expand the team, broaden business verticals, strengthen its community, and introduce new products and services. The company has signaled a focus on vertical integration and deeper investment in top-performing divisions. The business began in November 2014 in Mumbai. Launched in April 2014 and formerly known as Indear, The Wedding Brigade positions itself as a comprehensive wedding solutions portal where users can find inspiration, buy products, and book services. The platform recently introduced a services marketplace that lets users book venues, hair and make-up artists, and mehendi artists online or via a free expert concierge service. It currently serves users in Mumbai and Delhi and plans to expand to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai while adding categories such as photographers and caterers. The company intends to use new funding for product enhancement, service improvements, growth activities, and talent acquisition. The move from an inspiration website to a full marketplace reflects its broader strategy amid a large $40 billion Indian wedding market and growing competition from other platforms.
