- Velo Labs
Led · Equity · Jan 2016
Velo Labs is a San Francisco–based hardware startup focused on connected cycling products, with its flagship device being Skylock, a smart bicycle lock. Skylock pairs with a rider’s smartphone over Bluetooth to enable keyless locking and unlocking, and includes a capacitive touch interface as a backup when the phone is unavailable. The lock is designed to remain charged through an integrated solar panel; twelve hours of sunlight powers the device for roughly six months. To date, the company has collected more than 5,000 pre-orders and plans to deliver initial shipments in Spring 2016. Velo Labs has partnered with Taiwan-based Quanta Computer for manufacturing, positioning it to scale production. The company plans to use its latest capital infusion to bring Skylock to market. Financial details beyond the latest funding round have not been disclosed, and no other operating metrics were provided.
