  Wildcat Discovery Technologies is a San Diego-based technology company that uses proprietary high-throughput tools and a team of scientists to accelerate discovery and optimization of breakthrough battery materials. The company focuses on advanced materials for rechargeable and primary batteries and works with corporate partners across global battery and materials supply chains. Wildcat is developing multiple technologies intended to combine into an EV “super cell,” including a cobalt- and nickel-free high-energy cathode, a composite solid-state electrolyte, and a lithium metal anode. The envisioned super cell targets a >90 percent improvement in energy density over today’s best batteries and is being developed with conflict-free materials to reduce reliance on nickel and cobalt. The company raised over $90M in Series D financing to support rapid development, commercialization, added staff, expanded research capacity, and scale-up capabilities with the goal of having the super cell ready for commercialization in two years.

The company said it will use proceeds from its latest financing to expand operations. The financing brings LensVector's total financial backing to more than $50M. Investors include a mix of institutional and corporate backers that have participated across prior financings. The company announced a board appointment tied to the new round.
