- Comeryx
Participated · Seed · Feb 2026
Comeryx is an AI-native, digital MGA that uses advanced automation and data-driven underwriting to serve the excess & surplus (E&S) insurance needs of small-business artisan contractors. Its platform streamlines quoting, binding, and servicing, aiming to lower acquisition costs and improve loss ratios relative to traditional carriers. The company targets an addressable market of more than 500,000 U.S. artisan contracting firms with under $10 million in annual revenue, positioning itself as a focused specialist in an underserved niche. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Comeryx is led by CEO Dax Craig (formerly Pie Insurance and Valen Analytics) alongside seasoned insurtech, engineering, analytics, and underwriting executives. The business plans to invest heavily in AI model refinement, geographic expansion, and product breadth as it scales. Although no premium-written or revenue figures were disclosed, the recent seed financing provides the runway needed to grow its book and validate underwriting performance. Future priorities include building distribution partnerships and extending coverage classes to capture a larger share of the small-business E&S market.
- Fervo Energy
Participated · Series E · Dec 2025
Fervo Energy develops next-generation geothermal power using innovations in horizontal drilling, fiber-optic sensing and advanced reservoir engineering to make geothermal scalable and competitive. Its flagship Cape Station project in Beaver County, Utah is slated to deliver first power to the grid in 2026, reach about 100 MW of operating capacity by early 2027 and has plans to scale to 500 MW. Cape Station is fully contracted through power purchase agreements with Southern California Edison, Shell Energy and community choice aggregators. The company secured long-term non-recourse project financing for the first phase of Cape Station to fund remaining construction costs and meet counterparty credit support requirements. Fervo positions its technology and commercial contracts as enabling Enhanced Geothermal Systems to be treated as a bankable, utility-scale infrastructure asset.
- InventWood
Participated · Equity · Aug 2024
InventWood commercializes Superwood, a processed timber product created by chemically modifying lignin and compressing wood to increase cellulose bonding. The underlying technology was developed by University of Maryland materials scientist Liangbing Hu and licensed to InventWood after Hu reduced production time from more than a week to a few hours. The company says Superwood delivers roughly 50% more tensile strength than steel and a strength-to-weight ratio about ten-times better; it is Class A fire rated and resistant to rot and pests. With polymer impregnation it can be stabilized for outdoor use such as siding, decking, or roofing, and compression concentrates colors to resemble richer tropical hardwoods. InventWood plans to start initial production this summer from a smaller first-of-a-kind commercial plant focused on facade and other skin applications. Ultimately the company aims to produce structural beams from wood chips that could replace concrete and steel in building construction to reduce carbon impact. InventWood has developed a proprietary technology stack that transforms wood into high-performance, climate-resilient superwood building products. The company says its materials are stronger and lighter than steel while offering higher durability and improved aesthetics. InventWood raised $8M in funding from backers including the Grantham Foundation, Builders Vision, Echelon, John Rockwell, and an existing investor. The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts ahead of a planned commercial launch in early 2025. Key priorities for the launch are establishing a scaled supply chain and commissioning a pilot production facility capable of profitably producing up to one million square feet of product annually.

- Frontline Wildfire Defense
Led · Seed · May 2023
Founded in 2017 by landscape ecologist and fire-mitigation expert Harry Statter, Frontline Wildfire Defense offers the first fully integrated wildfire defense solution that combines exterior sprinklers, full-coverage design services, and connected software for remote monitoring and response. Its system deploys water and Class-A foam to guard against ember ignition—the leading cause of structure loss during wildfires—and continues operating during infrastructure failures thanks to backup batteries, satellite connectivity, and water-intelligence features. Homeowners can activate the system remotely, allowing safe evacuation. The company also provides a free mobile app that delivers wildfire safety information and evacuation alerts. Frontline’s technology demonstrated a 96 % home-survival rate when 61 protected houses were exposed to the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Strategic partnerships with builders and architects such as Burdge Architects, Sekisui House U.S., and Thomas James Homes are expanding its footprint across California, Colorado, and Texas. Recognized as a TIME 2025 Best Invention and winner of multiple building-industry awards, the firm is using new capital to scale installations to thousands more at-risk structures.
