- Fermtech
Led · Seed · Apr 2026
Fermtech develops a sustainable cocoa powder alternative produced from agricultural crop waste. The company positions its product as a response to rising chocolate prices driven by climate change. Fermtech has announced plans to scale production and roll out the product more widely following its recent seed raise. The business secured £2.5m in seed funding to expand manufacturing capacity. Available reporting does not disclose revenue, users, founding year, or valuation. The company is based in Oxford.
- Ionech
Led · Seed · Jan 2026
Ionech is a clean-energy technology company founded by Nathan Owen and Thomas Kirk that has invented the Air Voltaic Cell, a solid-state device that converts the thermal energy naturally present in ambient air into usable electrical power. The system is positioned as a low-carbon alternative for high-demand applications such as commercial refrigeration, air-conditioning, and ventilation units. By generating electricity directly at the point of use, the technology aims to lessen dependence on the power grid and cut operating emissions. With fresh capital, the company plans to transition from laboratory prototypes to field pilots, including a forthcoming trial with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners. The seed funding, coupled with an Innovate UK grant, will finance product engineering, manufacturing scale-up, and initial deployments. No revenue or user metrics have been disclosed to date, but the firm is targeting partners across the real-economy cooling sector. Longer-term ambitions include broad commercial rollout and integration into diverse industrial and commercial energy systems.
- Anaphite
Participated · Series A · Dec 2025
Anaphite is an advanced materials company commercialising a Dry Coating Precursor (DCP) platform for lithium-ion battery electrodes. Its process applies cathode and anode materials without solvents or the energy-intensive drying stages used in conventional manufacturing, lowering both production costs and carbon emissions. The company estimates that dry-coating battery anodes can reduce factory floor space by about 15 % and is targeting electrode mixing and coating steps that currently account for 30–40 % of a cell plant’s energy use and cost. By enabling dry-coated lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) electrodes—which are presently more than twice as energy-intensive to manufacture per kWh than nickel-rich NMC cathodes—Anaphite aims to deliver substantial efficiency gains to battery cell makers and EV OEMs. The firm has just secured £1.4 million in fresh capital to advance and scale its technology. Management believes achieving industrial-scale dry-coated LFP electrodes will create significant value across the battery supply chain.
- Upcycled Plant Power (UPP) Limited
Led · Equity · Oct 2025
Founded in 2022, Upcycled Plant Power (UPP) uses its ISO-9001 certified Harvesta robotic harvester, computer vision and machine-learning systems to collect both market-ready broccoli heads and the remaining stalks, leaves and stems. These by-products are immediately processed in modular, on-farm units to create the company’s patented Prota™ protein and Fiba™ fibre ingredient lines, which can replace soy, pea, wheat and even meat protein at up to 20% inclusion in products such as breads, pasta, burgers and soups without affecting taste or mouthfeel. By converting roughly 70% of each broccoli plant that would otherwise be discarded, UPP addresses food waste, allergen concerns and carbon emissions for food manufacturers while providing farmers with an additional revenue stream through multi-year harvester-rental contracts. The company’s technology positions it uniquely against emerging upcycling competitors like Fooditive by tightly integrating harvest automation with ingredient production. To date, UPP has secured £3.5 million in funding, enabling it to accelerate commercial launches of its ingredient lines and scale robotic harvesting deployments. Future plans include extending the platform to other high-waste crops to further reshape the agricultural supply chain toward sustainability.
- Munro Vehicles
Led · Equity · Oct 2025
Founded in 2019, Glasgow-based Munro Vehicles is Scotland’s only car manufacturer and focuses exclusively on rugged, fully electric 4x4s built for harsh environments. Its flagship M-Series platform, offered in Utility, Truck and Chassis variants, delivers a 1,000 kg payload and a real-world range exceeding 170 miles, targeting sectors that have been slow to decarbonise. The company emphasises simplicity and low total cost of ownership by integrating readily available components and designing for lifetime durability. Munro has already secured preliminary orders for 246 vehicles valued at £17.4 million and has begun early deliveries to customers such as Gleneagles Hotel and Denbighshire Council. Fresh capital is being used to expand its Glasgow production facility, hire up to 300 staff, and develop sector-specific configurations, with an ambition to reach 5,000 vehicles of annual capacity within six years. Management positions the M-Series as a zero-emission alternative that meets or exceeds the performance of diesel incumbents while lowering operating costs. The company’s strategic backing from climate-tech investor Elbow Beach underscores its alignment with broader industrial decarbonisation efforts.
