accuRx offers a collaborative communications platform that brings patients and their healthcare teams together, beginning with the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. The software is used by 98% of GP practices in England and by a growing number of hospitals and community trusts. The company’s product enables existing health and care systems to deliver technology-enabled care and to improve communication between clinicians and patients. Leadership is led by CEO Jacob Haddad and CTO Laurence Bargery. The newly raised funds are intended to grow the team, enhance accuRx’s offering to GP practices and build products to enable expansion into secondary care. Accurx's core product is Chain SMS, a messaging app used by doctor surgeries to communicate with patients. Chain SMS supports nurses, administrative staff, practice managers and GPs for tasks such as sending advice, notifying normal results, and appointment reminders, with all communication saved back to patients' medical records. The company originally built datasets and tools to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use but pivoted to a broader clinical communication platform while keeping data and machine learning central to its approach. Chain SMS launched in February 2018 and is already in use by 20% of GP practices in England, up from close to zero at launch. Accurx was founded by Jacob Haddad and Laurence Bargery at Entrepreneur First in 2016 and remains focused on improving healthcare delivery through tighter patient-team communication. Financially, the company has just closed an £8.8M Series A led by Atomico.
