Waterfall Network is a Swiss L1 smart contract platform built to address security, scalability and decentralisation for dApp developers. Its Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture enables low hardware requirements and is designed to allow validator nodes to run on low-cost laptops and mobile phones in the future. The protocol is Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible to support portability of decentralized applications. Waterfall recently set a performance record of 12,778 transactions per second (TPS), highlighting the network's scalability. The company says the funding will advance research and development to strengthen platform infrastructure, including node simplification and further network advancement. Sergii Grybniak, Head of Research at Waterfall, described a rapidly growing community of supporters and validators. Waterfall Network is a Layer 1 smart‑contract platform built to solve speed, security, and scalability while preserving decentralization and on‑chain transparency. Its protocol incorporates Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology to enable unlimited scalability and low processing‑power requirements so validators can run on basic laptops and mobile phones. The network is fully EVM‑compatible, allowing portability of existing Ethereum dApps without new programming languages. Waterfall also intends to implement a “one person one vote” governance model designed to prevent control via capital. BlueWave, a Texas‑based development firm, is the primary development house behind the Waterfall protocol and manages the engineering team. Waterfall has announced it will use recent funding to accelerate its inaugural mainnet launch targeted for Q1 2024.
