    Participated · Equity · Oct 2018

METRON provides an energy-management solution for industrial sites aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. The company positions itself as a partner for global industrial groups to turn decarbonization objectives into measurable results at each plant. METRON has deployed solutions for major accounts including Danone, Safran and Arcelor Mittal and has forged alliances with partners such as Fujitsu, Thailand's PTT and Dalkia. It expanded in Asia early, opening its first office in Singapore in 2018, and is now present in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The company also covers the Americas with teams in Mexico and Colombia and plans to deploy about 15 sites across the continent by 2025; the latest investment accompanies its market entry in Germany. Financially, METRON raised €12.5M in the reported round and says the capital will accelerate growth and help it reach break-even/profitability targets, aiming to break even by the next of next year and consolidate profitability by 2025. Metron is a Paris-based energy intelligence company that provides manufacturers with a digital platform to take control of their energy management independently across global operations. Led by CEO and co-founder Vincent Sciandra, the company has designed new products as an extension to its existing platform to enable optimization of energy and reduction of carbon emissions in the area of Virtual Power Plants. Metron is active in a dozen countries and maintains operational centres in Europe (Paris, Milan), Latin America (São Paulo, Mexico City, Bogota), the Middle East (Dubai) and Asia (Singapore). The company raised €10M in funding. It intends to use the funds to expand in France and globally, first in Japan supported by NTT DOCOMO Ventures. Investors in the round include NTT DOCOMO Ventures, StatKraft Ventures, BNP Paribas and Breed Reply. Metron, founded in 2013 by CEO Vincent Sciandra, builds an energy intelligence platform that collects, aggregates and analyses in real time data generated by industrial systems and interfaces with external sources such as energy markets and weather forecasts. Its artificial intelligence engine helps manufacturers reduce energy consumption and improve their environmental footprint. The company serves multiple industrial sectors including mining, steel, paper, glass, chemicals, automotive and food & beverage. Metron is active in about ten countries and operates six centres across Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. It recently raised €8m to accelerate international growth and further develop its AI-based energy optimisation solutions. The funding underscores its focus on scaling deployments and product development. METRON develops an energy intelligence platform (Energy Virtual Assistant) that uses machine learning, virtual mapping and big-data analytics to identify energy savings opportunities and optimise industrial operations in real time. The platform connects to decentralised energy assets and energy markets to make energy management predictive and proactive. METRON serves leading manufacturing customers across energy-intensive industries and partners with facility managers, utilities and OEMs in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The company was founded in 2013 and has more than 40 experts, data scientists and energy engineers. Breed Reply has invested in METRON alongside other investors; the company was one of two firms that together raised a total of £3.75 million. Breed Reply will work with METRON’s management to support international growth, wider roll-out of the platform and progression toward Series A funding.
