- Premier Lacrosse League
Participated · Series E · Jun 2026
The Premier Lacrosse League is a men’s professional lacrosse league composed of eight teams in North America, founded and led by Paul and Mike Rabil. The league has an existing media-rights partnership with ESPN, which will also be a minority equity investor following the $100 million financing. Leadership says the funds will be used to build infrastructure to support growth through elite competition, broader distribution, increased youth participation, and a stronger professional ecosystem. The PLL is coordinating with the Women’s Lacrosse League on shared initiatives and plans to establish teams in Texas, with Glen Powell joining as a Creative Advisor to help those efforts. The league is positioning itself ahead of lacrosse’s return to the Olympics and has 2026 seasons slated to air on ESPN platforms and ABC.
- FoodMaven
Participated · Series A · Jan 2018
FoodMaven captures lost food due to oversupply and out‑of‑spec products and sells it through an online marketplace to restaurants and institutions, while donating some supply to hunger‑relief organizations. The company’s stated mission is that all food is used with good purpose. FoodMaven closed a $15.3M Series B to support growth and expansion. Investors in the round include the company’s Series A investor and Tao Capital, with Fine Line Group (the family office of Sasha and Ed Bass) joining as a new investor. Over the next 12 months FoodMaven intends to expand into Dallas‑Fort Worth, Texas and additional markets to demonstrate scalability nationwide. CEO Ben Deda—promoted from COO on September 13—said the funding will allow FoodMaven to prove out its model in new markets and continue growing in Colorado. FoodMaven operates an online marketplace that captures and creates a market for food lost in the system—oversupplied, out-of-spec, or local food without effective access to market—and sells it to restaurants, universities, hotels while donating to hunger-relief organizations. The company pursues a buy-and-build growth strategy, purchasing complementary food businesses and recently closed Anderson Beef in Denver. FoodMaven is based in Colorado Springs and plans to enter Dallas as its next market. It has closed additional financing in its current $10M round, with Tao Capital Partners and members of the Walton family participating. The company says the financing will support geographic expansion and increased investment in technology and innovations. FoodMaven is positioning this momentum toward a projected $50–70M Series B targeted for early in the second quarter. FoodMaven operates a tech-enabled online marketplace and agile logistics model to capture and sell food otherwise lost in the U.S. food system to restaurants, institutional kitchens, and commercial buyers. The company uses big data optimization, an optimized marketplace, and sourcing relationships with distributors, manufacturers and producers to reclaim revenue from oversupplied and surplus food; items that don’t rapidly sell are donated for hunger relief. FoodMaven estimates the opportunity to reclaim part of an estimated $200 billion per year in lost food. The Series A financing will fund buildout of logistics capacity, further technology and innovation investment, additional hiring to support growth and operations, and the addition of key leadership. FoodMaven currently serves hundreds of suppliers and buyers in Colorado while refining its model and is staging a rollout to metro service areas across the U.S. Patrick Bultema is chairman, CEO and co-founder, and the company has added investors and board members including Walter Robb (late 2017).
