Its payments platform supports credit and debit cards, major wallets and can send biometric payments to more than 200 major gateways, offering advanced network tokenization and PCI-compliant data protection. The technology is designed to authenticate and accept payments across computers, smartphones, connected cars, SmartTVs, POS terminals and any IoT device with a camera and internet connection. Led by founder and CEO Deepak Jain, Wink intends to use the new funds to continue to strengthen and commercially roll out its platform offering. Financially, the company extended its seed equity round with an additional $3M following a $2.85M pre-seed in 2021–22, bringing known external financings to roughly $5.85M. The company is based in Plano, Texas and California. Wink offers a video-based biometric payments and identity platform that combines face, voice and device recognition with AI/ML to enable passwordless e-commerce authentication and checkout. Its patented one-way anonymous encryption and biometric tokenization securely tokenizes users' face, voice, device and payment methods into verifiable biometric identities for login and payments while preserving privacy. The company says the technology eliminates passwords and card numbers from e-commerce and aims to reduce identity theft and payments fraud. Wink closed an oversubscribed $2.85 million pre-seed round and plans to debut its authentication and checkout technology this fall. It is showcasing the platform to payment processors, networks, identity verification companies, e-commerce platforms and merchants and will present at the Retail Innovation Conference & Expo. Wink is positioning use cases across e-commerce, Web3 payments and connected car payments, and is led by serial entrepreneur Deepak Jain and a team of industry experts and advisors.
