Its proprietary platform uses the Terahertz spectrum between light and radio waves to deliver non-invasive, non-destructive three-dimensional structural and chemical information. Core applications include detection of faults and quality variations in semiconductor integrated circuits, with additional uses demonstrated for detecting concealed weapons/explosives, analysing tablet and capsule contents in pharmaceuticals, medical imaging of cancer, and industrial inspection. The company was spun out from the Toshiba Cambridge Research Laboratory in April 2001 and is led by CEO Don Arnone. TeraView raised $5.5m in funding in this round. The company intends to use the capital to increase sales and marketing efforts in Asia, accelerate product development in its semiconductor inspection market, and enhance support and collaborations with existing customers.
