- Neuralink
Participated · Series E · May 2026
Neuralink develops implantable brain-computer interface devices that decode neural signals to enable control of phones, computers and other systems. The company is conducting first human trials across three countries and reports that five patients with severe paralysis are using its device to control digital and physical systems by thought alone. Regulators have granted its speech restoration system a Breakthrough Device designation from the FDA, and the company previously received a similar designation for a vision-restoring implant. Financially, Neuralink announced a $650 million capital raise with participation from multiple top-tier investors, and reports earlier financing of $600 million at a reported $9 billion valuation. The company says the funds will be used to expand clinical testing and bring its technology to more people with unmet medical needs.
- The Applied AI Company (AAICO)
Led · Series A · Dec 2025
Founded in 2021 by Arya Bolurfrushan and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, AppliedAI develops AI-native workflow solutions that automate mission-critical processes for sectors such as healthcare, banking, insurance, energy, and government. Its flagship platform, Opus, deploys AI agents to handle end-to-end tasks like medical-claim processing, KYC/AML verification, and vendor onboarding while preserving human oversight, auditability, and compliance. The company has more than 350 employees and has already rolled out Opus across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. AppliedAI’s business model centers on enterprise deployments of its platform, positioning it as a key infrastructure provider within regulated industries. The firm intends to use its latest capital injection to accelerate global expansion and further scale Opus. The most recent financing—a pre-Series B round of undisclosed size—adds to earlier, unspecified funding and underscores investor confidence in its growth trajectory. Although revenue and user figures were not disclosed, the company’s broad geographic footprint and sizable workforce suggest operational momentum.
- InstaDeep
Participated · Series B · Jan 2022
InstaDeep develops reinforcement-learning and advanced machine learning platforms to solve complex optimization problems for enterprises, from container routing to train scheduling and drug design. The company is headquartered in London with offices in Paris, Tunis, Lagos, Dubai and Cape Town and was founded in 2014. InstaDeep has over 170 employees, more than 130 of whom work in AI research, engineering, ML and DevOps, with roughly half the team based in African offices. Its product work includes a moonshot railway-scheduling project with Deutsche Bahn and an early warning system that detected high-risk SARS-CoV-2 variants ahead of WHO designations. InstaDeep has collaborated closely with BioNTech, Google (including DeepMind and Google Research) and others on applied AI projects. With the new funding the company plans to accelerate product launches across biotech, logistics, transportation and electronics, advance its computing infrastructure, expand into the U.S. and hire more talent. InstaDeep builds an AI-based enterprise decision-making platform that leverages deep reinforcement learning, machine learning, and predictive analytics to optimize decisions and improve ROI across manufacturing, logistics, mobility, and energy. The company says its platform can tackle challenging optimisation and automation problems in dynamic, complex environments and is already providing measurable value to clients. InstaDeep was founded in Tunisia in 2014 and is now London-based; it was one of the first African-founded AI firms to publish original research at NeurIPS in 2018. The startup has seen steady growth and has developed the platform through its own cutting-edge research. With its latest funding and a strategic partnership with AfricInvest, InstaDeep aims to expand advanced AI opportunities and talent development in Africa and beyond. Management highlights plans to democratise machine learning in Africa and leverage AfricInvest’s operational expertise to accelerate R&D and talent programs.

- HeyGears
Led · Series B · Dec 2019
HeyGears began as a digital dentistry-focused company producing resin-based 3D printers used for orthodontic appliances, crowns, prosthetics, and surgical guides. Since its 2015 founding in Guangzhou, the company has broadened into a wider 3D printing ecosystem with its Reflex printer series targeting industrial production, creative markets, and prosumer customers. HeyGears is investing in AI software, new materials, and automation to support that expansion and to build recurring-revenue streams from consumables. The company reports roughly 70% of revenue comes from consumables rather than one-time printer sales. It holds over 400 patents related to its high-precision printing technologies and has prior institutional rounds including a 2018 Series A and a 2019 $60M Series B. HeyGears has also participated in collaborative projects such as the RapidVent ventilator effort during the COVID-19 pandemic.
